Advantages of Multi- Purpose River Projects :-
There are many advantages of Multi- Purpose River Projects. It has many uses. Some of them are follows:-

- Water supply for domestic and industrial use
- Flood control
- Recreation
- Inland navigation
- Fish breeding

Disadvantages of Multi- Purpose River Projects:-
There are also many Disadvantages of Multi- Purpose River Projects. Some of them are follows :-
- It affects the natural flow of river causing poor sediment flow and excessive sedimentation at the bottom of the river.
- It results in rockier stream beds and poorer habitat for aquatic life.
- Dams fragment river making it difficult for aquatic fauna to migrate.
- It submerges the existing vegetation and soil.
- It displaces the local people of the place where it is created.
- These are unsuccessful in controlling flood at the time of excessive rainfall.
- These projects induced earthquakes, caused water borne diseases, and pets and pollution resulting from excessive use of water.
