Before we dive into those points, let me answer the most obvious question that arises in everyone's mind.

Q. Is it possible to score 700+ or even 720 in NEET?

Ans: Yes, of course, it is possible. I understand it's not easy, but the NEET 2024 result data clearly shows that if your aim is clear and your dedication is pure, you can definitely achieve it.

Now, let's look at the first point.

1. Categorize chapters into A, B, and C :-

All the chapters included in the NEET syllabus are not of the same difficulty level. Some are very lengthy, like genetics in biology, some are purely memory-based, like animal kingdom and plant kingdom, and some are very easy. So, the first thing you need to do is categorize the chapters into A, B, and C categories based on difficulty level, your understanding, and how clear the concepts are to you. Doing this at the beginning will give you a clear route map of chapters and the time it will take to study each.

2. Focus on understanding concepts instead of just memorizing them :-

While memorization is important for quick recall during exams, as a future doctor, it's crucial to have a clear understanding of every chapter and topic. The NEET examination can't be cracked only by understanding or only by memorizing concepts; it requires a proper mixture of both.

3. Read NCERT thoroughly :-

NCERT textbooks, especially in biology, are crucial. The more you read these books, the clearer your understanding will become. Even in physics, questions come from NCERT, including the text questions. However, studying NCERT alone isn't enough. You will need some reference books for better understanding. For example, I used DC Pandey for physics, but you can choose according to your preferences.

4. Prepare short notes and mnemonics :-

Despite being a small portion of the medical syllabus, it can become extensive for students who have recently left home for the first time. Therefore, it's important to make short notes of B and C level chapters. You can also create mnemonics to remember things you frequently forget. For instance, to remember the list of essential amino acids, I've created the mnemonic "VIP HALL Me TT." If you'd like, I can share all the mnemonics and short notes I have prepared.

5. Use highlighters and sticky notes effectively :-

Use highlighters to mark important parts in your study materials, and use sticky notes to jot down key points or reminders and place them where you can easily see them while studying.

6. Reward and punish yourself :-

Reward yourself with something enjoyable after completing a study goal, such as watching an episode of your favorite show. On the flip side, set consequences for not meeting your study targets, like skipping a fun activity.

7. Be consistent :-

Study regularly, even if it's for a short period each day. Consistency is key to retaining information and building a strong foundation.

8. Take mock tests regularly :-

Practice tests help assess your understanding and identify areas where you need improvement. They also help you become familiar with the exam format and time management.

9. Focus on accuracy :-

Focus on answering fewer questions correctly rather than rushing through and making mistakes. Pay attention to details and aim for accuracy in your answers. Double-check your work to catch and correct simple errors, especially in calculations and writing.

10. Avoid distractions (mobile phones, friends) :-

Minimize distractions by studying in a quiet environment and keeping your phone away. Let your friends know your study schedule so they can support your efforts.

11. NCERT in-text questions :-

Pay close attention to the questions given within the chapters of your NCERT books as they are designed to test your understanding of the topics covered in the text.

12. Revision :-

Review your notes and study materials regularly to reinforce what you've learned. Revision helps in retaining information and preparing for exams effectively.

To all the NEET aspirants out there, remember that success is not just about the destination, but also about the journey. Embrace the challenges, stay resilient in the face of setbacks, and keep pushing forward with determination. Each day of preparation brings you one step closer to your dream of a career in medicine. Believe in yourself, trust in your abilities, and never underestimate the power of hard work and perseverance. Stay focused, stay motivated, and never lose sight of your goals. You have the potential to achieve greatness, and with the right mindset and effort, you can conquer any obstacle that comes your way. Keep striving, keep shining, and remember that your future as a medical professional awaits. You've got this!
